ABOUT
Health24Towers is a research and development project dedicated to creating an intelligent and predictive structural monitoring system for telecommunications towers. It is led by BSSE – BSS Engineering, in co-promotion with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and with the collaboration of Vantage Towers, which provides real towers for testing and validation.
The solution combines advanced sensors, IoT connectivity, numerical models, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning algorithms to monitor the real behavior of the structures, identify anomalies, and predict the remaining structural capacity.
With this system, companies transition from traditional reactive/preventive maintenance to a truly predictive approach. The result is more efficient, sustainable, and safer asset management — reducing operational costs, minimizing on-site visits, increasing reliability, and optimizing the use of existing towers.
The project spans 24 months (2025–2027) and positions Portugal at the forefront of the digitalization of telecommunications infrastructure, with potential national, European, and global impact.
MISSION
To revolutionize the way telecommunications towers are monitored and managed by developing an intelligent, sensor- and AI-based solution capable of anticipating structural damage, assessing the real capacity of infrastructures, and supporting critical operation and maintenance decisions.
VISION
To establish the international benchmark in predictive monitoring of telecommunications towers, promoting safety, sustainability, and digitalization in the sector, while contributing to resource optimization and reducing the need for new construction.
